258th Hants County Exhibition (2023)

Music Performances

The dates for the 2023 Hants County Exhibition are September 15-17 and 22-24. Dennis Jones from Kempt Shore will be the Hants County Exhibition Music Committee Chair.


With the cancellation of the second weekend in 2022 due to Hurricane Fiona, the musicians affected will be invited back to perform this year, 2023.

2023 Performers

Update on 2022 cancelled performances

I can now confirm that the artists whose shows were cancelled last year due to Hurricane Fiona will all be returning in September 2023. They include artists 1-4 below:


1. John Geddes Band — John’s band is the Hants County Christmas Angels TV Show’s house band.

2. Andrew Hill — Andrew performs in the Meadowview Farm Music Series in Centre Burlington each year.

5. Ruth Manning and the Prospectors — Ruth was inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame in 2022.

6. Maura Edmunds — Maura is co-host of the Wayfarers’ Ale Society open mic in Port Williams, NS.

7. Two in the Morning Trio — They will be kicking off the 2023 Hantsport Music Festival in July.

The Atlantic Lotto Harvest Stage was set up for “A Celebration of Live Music” with musicians covering several genres. These performances were dedicated to the memory of Mike Jamieson, long-time sound technician for events at the Windsor Fairgrounds, including the Hants County Exhibitions.

Ruth Manning and the Prospectors formed as a band in the fall of 2016 and have been playing dances, festivals, and various shows around the province ever since. Band members include Joel LeBreton (lead guitar/vocals), Graham Moorehead (bass/vocals), Scott Redden (drums) and Ruth headlining the band (vocals/acoustic guitar/piano). The group plays a variety of country, rock and 50s/60s music as well as many of Ruth’s original songs.

Campbell and MacDonald teamed up in 2022 to perform original songs and reimagined cover songs. Campbell has multiple awards as performer & songwriter including Int'l Singer-Songwriter Awards Vocal Duo 2018 & Album Of The Year 2019. MacDonald was the recipient of a Maritime Music Award (ECMA), performed with Tribute and The Corvettes, and was recording with Good ol Boys on Bell Fibe TV at the time.

Jackson has been a mainstay in the Nova Scotia music scene for the past 30 years as a singer/songwriter, recording artist, saxophone player, guitarist, percussionist, music educator and band leader. The Jackson & Wirchenko Duo perform Jackson originals with son Jef on acoustic bass with a blend of traditional Blues, Roots, Folk and Country.

Classic country singer Lucas Whitehead is 15 years old. This will be his 5th year singing at the Hank Snow Tribute in Liverpool. In 2019 he won both International Male Vocalist and Male Entertainer of the Year in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. “I met Lucas 8 years ago and was blown away by his young talents.  His deep-rooted country sound blends nicely with the music I grew up playing.  It is a pleasure to share the stage with this young man,” BJ MacKay.

The Square Bales Band was assembled from four experienced Nova Scotia musicians to provide three hours of danceable multi-genre music in the O’Brien Building. The building was filled to capacity with folks dancing and singing the night away. It was a complete success!


Band members included Dennis Jones on acoustic guitar, Gerry Albert on lead guitar, Bob Landry on bass guitar, and Jer Mombo on drums. Everyone did vocals.

Unfortunately, the second weekend of the Hants County Exhibition had to be cancelled as Hurricane Fiona made it’s way to Nova Scotia. The musicians affected will be invited back in 2023.
